5 Ways To Turn Your Next Fete, Trivia Night Or Footy Final Into A Fundraising Gold Mine

May 3rd, 2014

So, your big fundraising day is fast approaching.

You already called Pack Media, they found you a sponsor and now thousands of water bottles are going to arrive at your doorstep.

All you have to do now is sell them, but how the heck are you going to do that!?

Keep calm and follow these five foolproof tips for turning your special event into a fundraising gold mine:

  1. Place your bottles strategically
Making sure that your bottles are easily found may seem obvious, but it’s crucial to your success. Set up shop in a spot that won’t be overlooked and if you’re hosting a sporting or outdoor event, place yourself strategically in a place where thirsty visitors will flock. If your event covers plenty of ground, why not try a mobile selling technique?
Remember, more exposure equals more sales!
  2. Promote how the raised funds will be used
Whether it’s to raise money for a member of the community, a new facility or equipment – tell people how their water bottle purchase will help contribute to change. Remember to focus on the benefits of purchasing the bottle for your organisation and get that community spirit stirring.
  3. Create bottle packs and add value
Encourage visitors to purchase more bottles by boxing them up in packs and adding value. For example, you could team a four pack of bottles with food items and sell the combination to your patrons at lunch or dinner time. Other organisations we’ve worked with have sold their left over bottles much quicker by offering them in bulk packs after their main fundraising day has ended.
  4. Promote your sponsor
Many sponsors use their water bottle branding opportunity to promote a special offer. Even the most stubborn non-water drinkers may be tempted to buy a bottle if they know they can use it to enter a competition or get a special deal. So make sure you promote the local business sponsoring your organisation as well as any special offers or deals they’re advertising on the bottles.
  5. Stock excess bottles in the fridge
If you don’t sell all of the bottles you’re supplied on the day of your event, why not stock them in a fridge and sell them throughout the year? Water is a consumable that people not only want, but need, and you’ll likely sell bottled water at your school or facility anyway. Not only is the water a healthier fundraising item than chocolate, but you’ll earn complete profit from every unit sold.

So there you have it! 5 terrific ways to ensure your next fete, trivia night or footy final is a fundraising success.

Until next time, cheers!
