I recently attended a Sale & Marketing Conference in Melbourne and like many of these event which are organised, you are privy to hearing guest speakers present on all manner of topic relating to business and taking your business to the next level.  This day was no different, we heard from marketing specialists, social media experts and speakers who essentially could teach you how to make thousands of dollars from the comfort of your couch.  All of these industry leaders certainly imparted some pearls of wisdom but the speaker whom I’m still not able to stop thinking about was not professing to be an expert at anything, in fact he was more comfortable self deprecating.  At first I couldn’t pin point where he was going with his presentation and I don’t think he intended his speech to have such a profound impact on those of us in the audience but having since discussed his talk with others who were present that day, we all felt the same.

It was his willingness to be completely honest, raw and real.  The person we heard speak that day was Samuel Johnson, his sister is battling breast cancer and in a crazy turn of events set a challenge for her brother.  Samuel has worked tirelessly over the past few years and has started- Love Your Sister to make this challenge a reality.  So what was the challenge?

  1. Raise a million dollars for Breast Cancer research
  2. Raise awareness of the disease that’s killing her
  3. Break the Guinness World Record for the longest journey on a unicycle.

Samuel is well on the way, he has ridden 12,000 kilometres and raised over $800,000 so far. By February, 12 months after starting, he’s expected to have raised $1,500,000.

His success comes as no surprise because of his willingness to go to any lengths, to push beyond the rejections and setbacks and to create opportunities for communities to engage with him and this amazing organisation he’s created to help share his sister’s story and mission of raising awareness to all women in Australia and the realities of Breast Cancer.

You may be wondering why I found this experience of meeting Samuel and hearing his story necessary to share here?  Just like Samuel, we as business owners need to be passionate and tenacious to a point of not accepting anything but success for achieving our goals.  Working and aligning with people who have been touched by your passion or message and to help.  More importantly though, the idea of creating opportunities for your community to develop a rapport with you and your brand, because it’s with their support that the real magic of success can happen.  If you are able to demonstrate the value or benefit you can bring, just as Samuels’ message makes its way around our country, you’ll have a legion of followers.

It is for this reason that I’m so passionate to share my dream of positively impacting grass roots sporting clubs, school and non-profits in Australia by finding suitable Sponsorship Partners who would love the opportunity to share their brands message via a strategic marketing campaigns.  To find out more contact us info@packmedia.com.au
